At place 200m above river surface, one box-shape rail-hanging “robot” was marching in cycles among pipelines under the bridge deck. While in the control room at the other end of the plant area, data of temperature, smog, image etc. of pipelines in this area had already been sent in real time to computer screens, no human monitoring and operation were needed, and automatic “alarm” could occur if abnormality was discovered......Recently, “pipeline patrol intelligent robot” autonomously designed by Baosteel Chemical went online for operation, unmanned, intelligent and all-around patrol of long-distance transmission pipelines was realized for the first time in domestic chemical engineering industry.
Materials of chemical engineering industry are mostly conveyed through pipelines, once leakage occurs, consequences are disastrous. However, transmission pipelines are distributed at various venues in the plant area, the quantity is huge, distances are long, relying on patrol personnel to walk along the pipelines by employing senses of observing, touching, smelling, listening etc. to judge pipeline leakage situation could not secure real-time precise monitoring. Besides, part of the pipelines are also laid in areas across bridges and rivers etc. which could not be entered in by human patrolling, and safety hazards exist.
“Pipeline patrol intelligent robot” autonomously designed by Baosteel Chemical is equipped with functions of autonomous walking, autonomous patrolling, autonomous charging, data collection, analysis and judging, etc.. During patrolling process, robots could automatically and precisely stop and probe whenever arriving at one patrolling work position according to preset routes, and again automatically march to the next patrolling targeted points according to routes after accomplishing set actions. During the process, robots automatically record, store and transmit in real time data collected, and automatically return to charging room for autonomous charging after accomplishing all inspection. Tasks for patrolling include all-around patrolling, material leakage inspection, and image shooting recognition comparison, etc., even deep in the night, robots could also through the infrared temperature measuring camera “watch” perfectly clear for pipelines.
Currently, “pipeline patrol intelligent robots” “went on duty” six times each day, each patrolling took sixty to ninety minutes, effectively improved pipeline patrolling efficiency and safeguarded personnel safety and control over environment protection. As was known, Baosteel Chemical had already promoted “pipeline patrol intelligent robots” within corporate scope, and it was estimated that they could be gradually popularized in the plant area within the following several years.
